RE: TV & TT.....good match???

You are probably ok but I would be concerned about two things. 1. How much hitch weight can the vehicle hitch accomodate? and 2. The 1347 lb payload. I don't know how much stuff you load in the vehicle but it can add up in a hurry (hitch load, fuel, passengers, and other stuff). Enjoy your trip.

RE: List of problems for the various RV makers

I have used www.rv-coach.com. Go to their site map and click on ratings and then select the make your are interested in. They give a numerical score as well as a star rating for several different criteria. Good Luck

RE: Flagstaff factory water filtration location?

I don't have a Flagstaff TT but have been looking at them. From what I have seen at the local dealer I would look behind a door that is screwed in place near the floor level. How do you like your trailer? It is one we have been considering.

RE: Jayco wheel well tire clearance

I am glad you got your problem fixed and that Jayco stood behind their product. However it does make one wonder about their design and quality control. How does something this obvious get out of the plant? I can understand that one may slip through now and then but this has been an ongoing problem for some time. Hopefully they have corrected the problem and that all new units will be constructed with the correct axles.

RE: Trailer Waxing Ideas

Another vote for NuFinish. I do my trailer 2-3 times a year. It is only 26 feet in length but I can do the enitre trailer in about 3-4 hours. I do one side at at time (apply wax to the entire side and then wipe off) and it works fine for me. I think it helps to not let the camper get to dirty etc between applications. I find it is much easier to do it more oftem than to wait until it becomes of a problem.

RE: Can I tow it??

Another thing to keep in mind is that gasoline engines lose power by 3-4% per 1,000 ft. elevation. If you plan to do much towing at higher elevations this may make a difference. Ford recommends that to maintain performance, reduce GVWs and GCWs by 2% per 1,000 ft. elevations. I don't what Toyota recommends but it is probably in the same ballpark.

RE: 2009 Flagstaff 831FKBSS Pictures

Great looking trailer--congratulations. We have been looking at the same unit but unfortunately the local dealer does not have one in stock so I cannot check out what the real figures are for dry weight, hitch weight, GVWR etc. I have checked a couple of other Flagstaff units and the actual weights are very different from those shown in their brochure which I understand is not unusual. If you have the weights for your trailer I would appreciate knowing what they are. Thanks and happy camping.

RE: 29bhs and Toyota Sequoia TV

High Impact: You may already know but if not I thought I would pass along the fact that Toyota publishes a Payload and Towing Utility Guide that goes into these issues. You can get it off their web site. The Dealers like to emphasize the Tow Rating but seem reluctant to explain or do not understand the importance of Payload. I think they make great vehicles but you have to make sure the one you select is compatible with the vehicle you plan to tow. Good luck.

RE: Buying 1st TT, have questions

All 3 are very nice TTs. The Rockwood and the Flagstaff are the same trailer. Maybe differend fabric but that is the only difference. One significant difference between these 2 and the Cougar is the Hitch Weight. The listed HW for the Rockwood/Flagstaff is 703 while the listed HW for the Cougar is 965. I don't know if you have an issue with the HW or the payload of your vehicle but you make want to check it out.

RE: 4x2 or 4x4?

As many others have said it all depends on how you are going to use the vehicle. For me, I prefer the 4x2 for several reasons. 1. Lower purchase price 2. Better MPG 3. Higher tow rating 4. Less vehicle maintenance I agree that the 4x4 may have some advantage in certain situations (snow, sand, very steep grades, etc) and if you are going to be using the vehicle in these situations it is probably the better choice. But after working 30+ years in the woods it appeared to me that the 4x4 was able to go about a 1/4 mile further before getting stuck.

RE: 1/2T Crew Max Pickup

Thanks to all who replied. Appreciate your comments. As I said in the original post I am looking to purchase both a TT and a TV. I want to make sure that whatever I decide that it will be a good match. The TTs that we are currently considering are listed at 5800 lbs. dry with a hitch weight between 700-850 lbs. I realize this may be getting close to the max for a 1/2T and that payload is probably the more critical factor. I think that either of the vehicles may work but for some reason I had not previously realized that chevy made a 1/2T HD pickup and had not seen anything about it on the forum. The vehicle will also be my everyday transportation so non-towing mpg is also a factor. Again thanks for the help.

1/2T Crew Max Pickup

I am in the market for a new TT and TV. Would like to stay with a 4x2 crew max !/2T vehicle. I hear and see a lot about the Toyota Tundra and its high tow rating but limited payload capaciity. In researching other vehicles I see that Chevy has a 1/2T crew max pickup with the max trailing pack that has a tow rating of 10,200 and a payload of 1965 or about 360 more than the Tundra. Not trying to start anything but I have not heard or read anything about the Chevy and just wondering if anyone has this vehicle and what their experiences have been.

RE: Towing with an Expedition?

I bought a Expedition and a 26'Sunline TT in 2001. Both have performed well--104,000 miles on the expedition. However if I were buying today I think I would look seriously at a different TV. The Expedition is fine in the flatlands but tends to lag a little in the hills. Also I have had to have the transmission replaced twice, the starter 3 times, and several other major type repairs. I don't think towing had much, if anything, to do with the transmission failures. In both cases the dealer said it was seal failure that caused the problem. I do have the heavy duty tow package and the 3.73 rear end. Also have been extremely happy that I purchased an extended warranty--paid for itself several time over. Good luck on whatever you decide.

3/4T Suburban

I am considering purchasing a 08 Chevy Suburban 3/4T with the 6.0 engine and the six speed transmission. Will be used to pull a 7000 lb TT as well as general around town driving. Appreciate any feedback from anyone who has one on their towing experiences and gas mileage both solo and towing. Thanks

RE: Furnace won't fire

Clean the orifices--they are probably blocked with a spider web etc. I had the same problem with my frig--hear it spark, smella little gas but would not light. Cleaned out the orifices and is working fine.

RE: Furnance won't come on.

You may want to check that all of the gas orifices are clean and open. Sometimes insects clog them up with their nests etc. I had a similiar problem with my gas refer and after I cleaned the orifices it worked fine.
